How to Make Kitsch Fashion Work for You

Like what was mentioned before, kitsch fashion is actually subject to no rules whatsoever. There are, however, ways to make sure that your self-expression using your clothing and accessories would not be too intrusive to your everyday life. That is to say, there are ways to express yourself without making people feel uncomfortable, ways of being kitsch and looking good at the same time. Just because some kitschy clothes are costume-y, it doesn't mean that you have to wear them full-on like costumes.

What it all comes down to is that kitschy clothes and accessories are best worn in doses: it is not advisable to wear kitschy clothes all at once, unless they were specifically designed or sold as part of a set. The best way to go about wearing kitschy blouses, of example, is to wear them with jeans and accessories that are fairly modern. Mixing and matching accessories like earrings and bracelets with fairly modern clothes are also a clever way of being subtly kitsch. Remember, being kitsch doesn't mean that you have to be over the top; you can be creative, individual, and one of a kind without doing a lot. Sometimes, just a little kitsch touch here and there - a polka-dot headband that matches with a nice tank covered by a loose belly-shirt worn with denim, for example - will make a world of difference.
